9 Tips to Quickly Setup Your Caravan

Caravanning is a quintessential Australian holiday every family eagerly looks forward to. When your family is embarking on a caravanning adventure, we know your biggest concern is getting away from it all. By following these nine handy tips, setting up your caravan is much easier.

Create Lists

To ensure your holiday runs smoothly, create a comprehensive list of essentials. This list should include clothes, basic food and beverage items, kitchen utensils, first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, caravan jack, towing mirrors, extra coolant and oil, and games and DVDs to keep the kids occupied.

Keep Essentials on Hand

When you’re getting back to nature, you won’t always be near the shops. To ensure you won’t run out of milk, bread and other essentials, write a detailed list and stock up before you leave.

Organise the Kitchen

Some fantastic ways to maximise your limited kitchen space are to: utilise drawer dividers, stackable Tupperware containers, and easy access storage containers.
And, of course, no caravan kitchen is complete without pull-out organisers for your pantry and cupboards.

Clean Out the Fridge – A well-organized fridge is the key to ensuring mealtimes run smoothly. Maximise the space by investing in “fridge baskets”. This nifty organisational tool keeps everything grouped together and neatly contained for travel.

In the Bedroom

Maximise bedroom storage capacity by using some stacking under-bed boxes, a tabletop ironing board, and flocked hangers for the wardrobe – these are space saving and non-slip.

Clean Inside and Out

The last thing you want to do when leaving or coming back from a caravanning holiday is clean. To make cleaning less overwhelming, spend a few hours before you leave or when you return to clean your van from the inside out. Make cleaning less of a chore by getting the family involved.

Secure the Van

Before heading out, ensure your van is secure. Some necessary checks include: ensuring the towing aid is fitted correctly, all loose items are secure, and windows and doors are locked. Also, remove wheel chocks and jockey wheel, and raise the caravan’s steps.

Have a Set-Up Routine

While each caravan differs, a basic set-up routine includes: unhitching the caravan, applying the handbrake and clearing your vehicle away. Once done, level the caravan, lower all steadies until they touch the ground, then set up the gas, water and power systems.

With Ezi Camper Awning Arms, setting up your caravan has never been easier. To set up your awning, simply arrive at your campsite, flick the lever and roll out the awning, insert the rafters and stand the awning out, then sit back and enjoy!
